Standardization is out, flexibility is in - supply chain trends

I’m trying to better understand the supply chain trends that industries across the board are dealing with in 2021. The first notable trend is the shift towards digitization within the sales process.

Direct-to-consumer models are apparently on the rise- 13% of consumers prefer to order directly from a brand than a multi-brand retailer, and that number is expected to increase. Obviously, this is good news for manufacturers and I’d assume not great news for massive online e-commerce sites like Amazon.

Will ERP systems that worked in past years continue to fit this new landscape? Customers seem to want more and more flexibility and exclusivity rather than standardization. What does your company to combat this new shift in behavior?
