On track to end tracking?

Looks like Apple is calling for more transparency in their new iOS 14.5 software update! Apps will now be required to ask your permission before tracking your internet activity. This is obviously a huge concern for the countless businesses that use tracking data to push their ads to desired audiences. Why? Because lots of us have seen “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix and are WAY more protective of our privacy now more than ever.

Apple CEO Tim Cook voiced his opinion that many businesses are too often misleading users, exploiting data for their personal gain, and are in need of serious reform. Facebook, on the other hand, made it clear that to take away targeted ads would severely damage small businesses.

Where do you stand on tracking user history without permission? How important is this issue? Should I be more concerned that my iPhone was created to fall apart after 2 years of operating? What iPhone should I get now that mine is hardly functional? Let me know in the comments!
