Did you see this? Hit 130 accounts including Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, etc. and pushed some Bitcoin scheme. FBI is investigating.
Cyber Security is probably the biggest IT issue for any company.

Interesting. You would think with such capabilities to be able to hack twitter accounts of former presidents, and vice presidents, they would be more convincing in their message trying to con people.
Who do we think would be able to get to this level of hacking? A foreign government agency? Or a group of independent dark web traders?
Yeah hopefully it is not a foreign government. I guess in the aftermath it seems unclear how long they had access to more important information or private conversations with people like Elon Musk or Joe Biden. 2 hackers who proved to the NY times that they were the Twitter hackers by sharing screen shots of their access. One claimed they were 19 living at home with their mother in England, and the other “was in their 20’s on the US West Coast. This was not verified though.
Some think the hackers did not have a large motive other than stealing some money, and they only had access to a small window to pull off something, hopefully that is the case.
According to the NY times both “were well known on the website OGusers.com, where hackers have met for years to buy and sell valuable social media screen names, security experts.” People “will pay thousands of dollars to hackers who steal them from their original owners.”
At least it seems like these hackers are not interested in anything more malicious. But it does make you question the security of high-profile individuals on social media against more serious attacks.
Here is the NY Times article.
