In an industry like Market Research where we are constantly advising our clients on how to enhance THEIR marketing, why is it that so often we don’t even seem to know how to market ourselves?
A LinkedIn poll I scrolled across today asked the question: “As an industry, on average, how well do market research suppliers market their own companies?” The majority of responses (among 50 voters) labelled our industry “Worse than other industries” (62% of responses!).
Why do you think this is the case? From my personal experience, it does seem like our industry is missing the mark when it comes to sales, lead generation, advertising, etc. Please also comment if you disagree and you think there is no issue with the Marketing of our industry. Perhaps comparing our industry to B2C marketing, what we see most often, isn’t fair for us. Maybe it is? Thoughts?
Also- What measures could we do to improve as an industry?
