Investing in Digitization of Insights- Findings from the 2020 GRIT Report

In the 2020 GRIT Report, Hugo Amos, CSO and Co-Founder of Black Swan Data, describes two different approaches that market research companies can take during this pandemic, or any type of crisis. they can either choose to invest in innovative technologies, or “Remain ‘frozen’ with their heads down as the world changes around them.”

Amos definitely saw investing in innovative tech as the correct response. Even before the pandemic hit, the shift to AI and ML technology was in full swing, so for companies that are able to properly invest, I can see why it might be worth it to get ahead of competition in the midst of everything shutting down.

What technology/innovations do you think would be important to drive us through this crisis? Amos describes technologies that will predict which trends brought on by the pandemic will sustain vs. fade away. I feel like there would be a lot of value in that type of tech, but still wondering what exactly that would entail.

Most importantly, he states, “…Perhaps the winning strategy after COVID-19 will be less about only beating your competitors and more about how businesses and their consumers can collaborate to combat larger, shared enemies like pandemics, climate change, or inequality.” I agree this is a time to work with one another to fully understand the extent of what we’re living through.
