Bitcoin has been a hot topic ever since the price per coin surged from <$1,000 to up to $20,000 in late 2017. I bought a few coins a few months ago and have since sold them due to Bitcoin’s extreme pricing volatility. Moving forward, I will definitely stick to investing in the stock market only. Does anyone else own Bitcoin? Do you feel that Bitcoin will become a commonly accepted currency in the US and globally, or will it forever be a ‘hype currency’ which is only appreciated by cryptocurrency enthusiasts?
Given the volatility in Bitcoin, it just doesn’t see worth the risk. Warren Buffett wants no part of it. The risk/reward for this cryptocurrency is quite extreme. Too many other opportunities to invest in with high return and low risk…tech being one.
Bitcoin seems like a great opportunity if you time it right. Buy in, cash out, and run. A currency without a central bank to control an interest rate or quant easing to prevent volatility, I don’t believe makes for a good long term investment, or a safe currency to use to macro-economic planning. But, if you want to play the game, try something new, and maybe come out on top with quick cash, go for it. A bitcoin investor would do well to constantly watch the news in terms of what goes on with international trade of controlled commodities, crackdowns on black market goods, and Chinese trade policy.
